The thread wrapped hidden knot technique is an ancient one. But definitely still handy for today's jewelry makers.
Tangles'nKnots shared how she thread wraps her tassel in this brief but brilliant how-to. As you can see, she uses no glue or needles or visible external knots.
As she says, you do have to use the same color cord as the main tassel as the thread ends have to mix in.
