Bead embroidery is a beautiful way to bring art to beadwork.  Many designers use gemstones or crystals but you can also other focal varieties.

Évi Csizmadia Lajosné, the Hungarian designer behind Vicus, creates gorgeous bead embroidered bracelets, hair barrettes, pendants and earrings as tutorials and kits.  She does go beyond the usual focals as you can see from my design picks.

I really like her use of beautiful bead cabochons and even a Chinese porcelain tile! The colors and textures of these beads add depth to the overall design.

I haven't seen many use a resin cabochon but it's probably because I haven't been searching hard enough! Who knows, Évi might yet entice us with one in the future.
