Canadian artist, Kayo Benson, uses the surface of ceramic as a canvas. Her whimsical illustrations of mainly animals, decorate not just small jewelry designs but the dishes and ring holders for them. She actually offers ring holders as simple figurines, single as well as double ones on dishes.
Kayo also delights with her unique wall decor as well as ceramic designs for other crafters. My favorites include her yarn bowls and her painter brush holder and palette collections!
She said :
Most of my pottery are individually hand drawn/painted with underglaze paint/pencil and fired. Sometimes, I use incise technique, stencil and others. I am still exploring the possibility of ceramic art. At the moment, I like the idea of putting visual art into functional ceramic so that you can casually enjoy the art in your daily life.
