I don't know what to call this half circle combined with a circle shape. But I sure love it.  I've named it a tribal fan for my laser cut wood blanks. 

It is a pleasing shape with wide appeal. Check out this easy polymer clay earrings tutorial by Bulgarian designer, Nataliya of BijouLabStudio on Etsy. 

The tutorial is idea for beginners without much equipment as it only needs two circle cutters and a texture plate.  Some mica powder also enhances the texture.  She uses the design as dangles but if you make it slightly smaller, it could become statement studs.
