Lindsey Griffin is a wonderful Wyoming wire artist who also teaches on Youtube - Cleft of the Rock Creations. I have featured her tutorials before. This one is for a wire wrapped weeping willow tree pendant.
I like how she shows you the two different mandrels she used to shape the pendant frame. The double ended crystal is clever as the base of the tree as is the use of short chain lengths for the leaves!
As she says, you can customize it to your heart's content. She shows different variations of her own at the end.
Not into tree of life jewelry designs or simply tired of it? Consider doing this little piece of home decor art - a weeping willow tree! The instructor is Virginia based Fox Mitchell of SculptyWorks on Youtube.
His wire wrapped willow tree tutorial uses small pre-drilled peridot chips. He recommends 24G wire for ease of use. And gloves because doing so much wire work could hurt your fingers! I chuckled when his cat just nonchalantly walked right across his work as if to say, "All this is mine!"
Also note his pebbles in a bowl base - he uses epoxy resin to bind them together.

very unique. My grandma had a Weeping Willow, the leaves touched the ground and made a perfect "fort" for us kids. sweet memory.
ReplyDeleteMany of us in my neighborhood were sad to see a magnificent willow tree go - it did not survive two severe ice storms. It was a wonderful landmark in its day.
