One really good gift idea is the macrame key chain. It's quick to do and an excellent non-jewelry gift!  Even better if an instructor like Florida based Michelle of ManifoldWitness teaches you some beginner designs so that they end up looking like professional designs. She also sells finished macrame jewelry.

I particularly like the cotton colors and the eco-friendly types she offers including for the DIY kit.  One favorite is the wristlet keychain as it can be useful for car keys.

She explains :
I place a priority on working with sustainable, ethically-sourced, non-toxic, recycled, and eco-friendly supplies. The materials that I use include recycled cotton, ethically-sourced wool, and durable nylon paracord (for items that undergo more wear and tear, like keychains).
I began making macrame bracelets for fun as a child and returned to the craft as an adult, excited by the huge range of creative possibilities and eager to experiment and learn. Before long the hobby turned into a fiber art business, with a heart for kids at its core.
For every sale, 10% goes to support family reunifications and ethical orphan care through the nonprofit organization Mwana Villages. As Manifold Witness has grown, I've also branched out into creating unique custom fiber art pieces to suit my customers' individual vision and style.

Please note that her patterns are only for personal use.
