There is something about mountains which captivate many. The isolation, remoteness the tranquility, the majesty and even the mysterious appeal to our imaginations and emotions.

For some beadwork designers, the mountains offer inspiration too. Ukrainian designer, BeadingPatterns4Fun has no less than 5 awesome brick stitch fringe beaded earrings patterns to suit every mood! I have featured this talented designer a few times before here

The first one above celebrates the aurora borealis - definitely a design for this year when the Northern Lights are particularly strong.

The design below shows a forest, mountains and an eagle.

The tranquility of mountains is so well captured over the two earrings in this pattern below

This one below is so very different as the design captures verdant mountains and a river or lake. reflection.

Even more dramatic is this mountain sunset brick stitch beaded fringe earrings

This moonlit earrings design has what reminds me of cherry blossoms!

Another Ukrainian designer I like is Ekaterina of HandMadeinUa. This one below shows a bold sun over green mountains

Her clever pattern below allows you to easily change the earrings from a moonlit night to a sunny day at the mountains!

Soft blues feature in this mountain inspired earrings pattern.

The Rocky Mountaineer Train Journeys

I lived for four years in Calgary a few decades ago. The city is just 1 hour away from the spectacular Canadian Rocky Mountains. Those mountains hold a special place in my heart and memories as we hiked and skied there many a time.

I would love to return there and see the mountains again. High on my bucket list is to be able to take the Rocky Mountaineer trains, no hiking required! These are Canada's most luxurious train journeys - they also have one route for the American Rockies.

Here is a short video of the route from Vancouver to Banff (First Passage to the West) :

And the route from Vancouver to Jasper (Journey Through the Clouds) . Note that parts of Jasper town was burned during the July 2024 wildfire. It will take time for them to recover :

Some of my favorite hiking trails in the Rockies were in the Yoho National Park especially Emerald Lake . The most grueling I ever did when I was much, much younger and fitter, was the Berg Lake Trail in the Mount Robson Provincial Park near Jasper. But the sights like Emperor Falls were spectacular!

It was an 18 km hike in, with everything we needed on our backs. We camped for two nights by Berg Lake and spent the second day walking by the glacier (too dangerous to be on the glacier itself).  Our backpacks containing food had to be strung high up on special poles provided by Parks Canada overnight to deter bears!
