I couldn't believe that this pretty necklace and earrings set was actually made from recycled DVD discs!  The video tutorial is really simple too. The Mexican designer is Claudia Soledad Art

The tutorial is in Spanish, but you can read the English subtitles by switching on the captions button for English. Good job I did so because the part where she soaks the discs prior to separating the two layers is done with hot water. It takes only 5 mins of soaking before she uses a craft knife to help separate the two parts.
She only uses the half which can be clear or coated with the iridescent coating depending on how the two layers peel apart.

What is interesting is she cuts out her shapes from the transparent and the colored parts and then fuses them in an oven.

Really neat to see.  Claudia prefers to a manual drill for better control. I recommend a pin vise such as this one which gives you several sizes of drill bits.  These drills can be used for resin too.
