Adding ribbon is one way to add color to jewelry designs. Cyndi Lavin of Beading Arts has a marvelous idea on how to combine ribbon and punch up the design with beads and irregular gemstone nugget. Her wire wrapped ribbon and gemstone nugget necklace tutorial shows how she ties in all the elements!
If you look closely, she even wrapped filigrees around the necklace. Wire wrapping around the ribbon also helps keep them secure and neat.

ReplyDeleteI love the look of ribbons and material in jewelry but have always shied away from it because I think it will get dirty when worn - and then what?
But this technique actually keeps the material off your skin. The wire is what takes the brunt of the oils etc. Brilliant!!
I can imagine this done in SO many ways!!
