Swans are such beautiful, graceful birds known for their loyal bonding to their lifemates. They are rather large and can be quite fierce when defending their territory. I usually give them a wide berth because of this. But we can all safely oogle these lovely swan inspired jewelry.  Further down, I shared some gorgeous supplies and beadwork tutorials.

First up is the stunning contemporary style silver swan earrings shown above. Designed by Pakistani, Fahad of TheDreamyVibesHub. He sends his designs to his production partner in Osaka, Japan. A global endeavor indeed!

The cast swan ring below certainly captures the beauty of the creature. It's available in either silver or bronze from the Latvian family metal smithing business called WitchJewelryShop

Love the laser cut acrylic swan earrings below from the Californian shop, MCherieShop, which shows the birds in flight!

Awww. A bonded pair of swans is featured in this elegant sterling silver swan ring. The designers and makers are PREMJEWELRYIN which is based in Jaipur, India. Jaipur is a major gemstone and jewelry hub in that continent.

Polymer clay jewelry designers are so creative, each with their own vision and style. This white swan earrings pair with leaf studs is by the very talented Lithuanian artist, NoomCottageClay.

Another polymer clay beauty is this pair of "swans in love" earrings from British artist, Vicki of BlackthornAndBone.

SUPPLIES

What a rare find! These are handmade AB glass vintage swan pendants from Germany. They were made in 1970.  Available from the marvelous vintage supplies shop vintageglassstones based in Germany. Many, many wonderful goodies there.

Also neat are these mother of pearl swan charms from the Chinese supplier, Amyjewelry1012

Tiny resin swans could be awesome embedded into larger resin shapes. The swan resin mold is available from CocoaDIYCrafts, a Chinese supplier with a fantastic array of molds for resin and candle making.

BEADWORK TUTORIALS

Beaders can make some lovely swan earrings too. This swan brick stitch earrings pattern is by Ukrainian bead artist, NikoBeadsUA.

Love the little crowns on the swans for this brick stitch earrings pattern by Albina, the Italian designer behind BeadArtPatterns.

THE DYING SWAN BALLET SOLO

I am no ballet aficionado so I didn't know until this year - wee bit late - that the dying swan solo is not part of the Swan Lake ballet piece. It was a short <4 minute solo, first performed in 1905 by the legendary Russian ballerina, Anna Pavlova (1881-1931). The music is by French composer Camille Saint-SaĆ«ns from his wonderful Carnival of Animals suite (The Swan is at the 18:19 mark)

She loved swans and had many pet swans (loads of pictures of her and her swans on the internet). Jack was the name of her favourite. She was inspired by Alfred Tennyson's poem, The Dying Swan. She asked Mikhail Fokine to choreograph what was to become her signature piece. We are fortunate to still have a short recording of her dancing this role (shown below) of a wounded swan's struggle to the end.

Her performance really shows off her passion for her favourite animal. Modern ballerinas while technically very proficient and talented, do not come close to the emotional portrayal of a dying swan as she did. She had closely observed them, loved them and and knew every nuance movement of these beautiful birds. No matter the craft, passion always shines through.
