Robots are machines which can be programmed to do repetitive and complex tasks which would otherwise be tedious or even dangerous for humans to perform. Most robots are not human like at all but functional and not esthetically pleasing looking factory machinery.

Humanoid robots are called androids and these have a long history. Many ancient cultures have described such artificial people in their writings. People in the past also built automatons, some of which were human like.

Today the quest for more and more realistic androids is intensifying - see the latest robotic developments below. Some of the androids can be downright unnerving.

I much prefer the whimsical robot jewelry versions in the steampunk style as shown in this delightful collection. I love how these designers used bits of wood combined with jewelry findings as well as hardware bits and pieces for their creations.

Notice how each designer puts together the components differently?  The robot pendant design below is by CraftedHueStudioCa.

Many designers craft their pendants with different kinds of findings to make their creations unique. For example these steampunk robot couple necklaces below by polcrochetdoll.

These tiny wide eyed robots are simply adorable! Their creator is HypeXStudio

I love how HypeXStudio also made a leggy robot design

I like how Michaelelegant created these squat but utterly adorable robot necklaces!

Futuristic Humanoid Robots are Coming

If you have time, watch this video on the latest humanoid robotic innovations. The robots range from those which can hopefully help us in the home and workplaces in the future like doing repetitive and boring chores, lifting heavy objects and helping the elderly. Many are AI driven.

Will they replace jobs? Some, for sure. But with every technological advancement we've seen over the centuries where some old jobs are lost, there will also be new ones created.

The world's population is projected to decline over the next several decades so robots will help fill in the labour gap.
