Julie came to our workshop recently for the very first time. One of the most fun things about teaching beading is that we get to meet so many wonderful people from all walks of life and also from all over the world.

Julie is from Australia and what made me almost squeal in delight was that of all the places in Australia, she came from Broome in the north-western part of the country. The reason for my excitement is that Broome is a pearling town with a long history - more about Broome in a future post. Not only that, Julie was able to share some of her experiences about working for Willie Creek, a cultured pearl farm which produce South Sea Pearls. It was a fascinating afternoon listening to Julie!

It wasn't all talk though! Julie, who actually favours black, cream and white jewelry, eventually ended up designing this gorgeous green crystal bracelet. She cleverly added different sized crystals in different hues. Her personal touch included the use of long metallic bead dangles. The result was a one of kind jewelry design that surprisingly didn't have a single pearl!
