A blog reader told me she enjoyed seeing the designs youngsters come up with. This is because young designers are never encumbered with self doubt as far as jewelry making is concerned and are willing to try anything. I rarely hear questions like "Does it look okay?" and "What colors should I use?" from them. They just do it!

Adrienne was just 12, not even a teenager yet, when she designed this set at her mother's beading party. She is not the first and won't be the last young designer who demonstrate so well their ease at picking unusual color combinations. And making them work! Here she's got black, grey glass pearls, teal and maroon beads coming together beautifully.

I wonder when we lose this amazing natural talent as we transition into adults?
