Swingin' Earrings
Part 3 of 3
A reader emailed me and asked if it were possible to make jewelry out of guitar picks. Sure you can! Just check out my past post on Jewelry from Guitar Picks and Strings.
If you need a tutorial for inspiration, then look no further than Wendy H's great how-to on Cut Out and Keep. She is a highly creative person because she is constantly on the look-out for design possibilities.
This delightful DIY'er said in her description, "My boyfriend won't take me shopping to HIS stores anymore because I STILL find craft supplies! I just love the faux abalone picks out there, all the different colors! And we don't talk about the Beatles pick I found!" Ah, to have been a fly on the wall...
I like her tip about making a template for the holes she was going to drill with a Dremel. No drill? You can also use a hole puncher for metals like I did.
I found these tortoiseshell colored picks at a local music store and made a couple of versions. The moonstone adorned layered earrings is in my Etsy store. The other is probably destined for the craft show earring rack...if it doesn't make its way to my personal jewelry collection first!

ReplyDeleteThe guitar pick earrings are great, never realized that they came in such lovely jewel like finishes such as mother of pearl, horn and tortoise shell.
