Turquoise is a precious stone treasured for thousands of years by many cultures around the world. One of oldest sources is Persia (modern Iran) but it is mined in different places.
People believed in its protective and good luck charm qualities. The Apache tribe also thought turquoise gave archers accurate aim.
It has not lost its popularity. Remy created this pretty set using turquoise chips at a beading party. She mixed in clear lightly faceted beads as well as some lovely faceted Chinese crystal rondelles. The sets of crystals make her design all the more unique as it was not all chips.
I wonder if Remy's birthday is in December because this gemstone is the traditional birthstone for that month.

December is my birth month so I am very partial to turquoise and love that it comes in various shades from robin's egg blue to green and even brown ... but yes the blue shades are my favorite.
ReplyDeleteRemy's bracelet and earrings set is lovely and I can see it being worn with everything from casual jeans to a pretty, white cotton sundress.
