Clip On Your Own Jewel - FIFT's Pick A Jewel Necklace

Many of us make customized jewelry where we try and deliver designs which personalize pieces in some way like with stamped initials or which suits the wearer's tastes.

Japan based FIFT offers the later approach - a necklace with a clip ready for the wearer to attach anything that he or she chooses to make a "jewel". The little alligator clips are zinc plated in black.

You could say this jewelry collection is eco friendly as just about anything can be used as a jewel - a little twig or flower, origami paper creations, a lace flower or perhaps even a bit or two from a broken piece of jewelry. Simple but brilliant idea!

Their earrings take on a whole new meaning to clip on!

Their international shopping site is at the Novelax online store.

  1. What a super fantastic idea! I'll have to use this one for my daughters, they are always wanted to add this or that to piece of jewelry. Thanks so much for sharing with us.

  2. lol...such an interesting idea! I've seen a special type of hook once that allowed for changing of dangles...never could find it in any of my wholesalers.

This clip is something much different but does the job.

  3. Happy New Year to you too and everyone else!

  4. Years ago and what seems like generations ago, I tried my hand at selling Sarah Coventry jewelry, many of their designs were convertible and could be worn in different ways. It made an impression on me that stayed with me throughout the years. I found myself crafting multi-purpose pieces ... multi-strand necklaces that could come apart and be worn individually or all together, or a strand that could come apart to make a bracelet and a chocker, beaded belts that became lariats, earrings that were changeable via tiny magnets, etc. They were fun but for some reason my clientele never "got" it and most of those pieces ended up being taken apart and remade into more conventional jewelry. Maybe I just need a different clientele as I think the idea of the alligator clip is cute, novel and fun, fun, fun.
