Many creative people are interested and accomplished in different craft techniques. So if you love embroidery, making the work wearable is a good way to show off your skill with needle and thread! Nunn Design has made it very easy to explore this crossover craft.
They offer both wholesale and retail jewelry embroidery kits. These consist of different kinds of bezels - earrings, pendants, brooch - which come with the appropriately sized and shaped tags. The assembly is very easy as you wrap the embroidery piece over the tag, sew the overlap at the back up and then glue into the bezel.
Shown here are some wonderful inspirations by different designers. If you aren't into embroidery, the same kits can be used to make leftover fabric from special outfits into jewelry!
Becky Nunn is the entrepreneur behind Nunn Design. Reader Aims sent me this wonderful interview on Becky over on Design Sponge. There Becky talks about what it takes to run a successful small business - women owners are still a minority. I particularly loved her approaches to creativity - from her occasional blocking of a week's time to do nothing but create!
As you can see from these embroidery kits, Becky tries to produce the kind of products which still give jewelry makers oodles of opportunity to create unique items of their own.
I was also impressed with her non-conventional approach with her predominantly non-artsy staff. They all gather for a quarterly art day to test and create their new products. This helps the staff understand the needs of their customers more.

I am SO EXCITED about this new Nunn Design product! I have always loved the look of embroidery in jewelry, but my sewing and embroidery skills are entirely nonexistent. I have dabbled in the polymer clay “embroidery” technique for jewelry, because I love the look so much, and I am truly excited to try this technique for real!! 💖💖
ReplyDeleteThis is something I've been wanting to try for awhile. I have an excess of cross stitch fabric and embroidery floss and could actually manage to complete something that small in a reasonable period of time. Thanks for hosting the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI have a long history of bouncing between different mediums to create things to wear and give away to others. Beading, fibers and painting have all taken their turn. What a wonderful idea to combine them all into one piece to show others.
ReplyDeleteThese are so cool! Been looking to try my hand at miniatures since I have embroidered pretty much my whole life. These would make fabulous gifts with that personal touch.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! I would love to try this. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteOoohhh...Becky Nunn & her team have done it again! I love the idea of combining crafts to create unique components. Pearl, as always, many thanks for all you do to inform & inspire all of us. Each email, blog post, & Facebook post is full of useful information.
ReplyDeleteI have struggled with the embroidery. This would give me a wonderful bust of confidence. cozyhomerental@cox.net
ReplyDeleteI am so excited about these kits! My grandmother was an avid embroidery artist, and I mean ARTIST. I have several pieces that were just everyday items like pillow cases that i have tried to figure out how to use in a different way to preserve her art. This would be an amazing way to showcase, at least small pieces of, her beautiful stitches. She taught me embroidery when I was only 5 or 6 yrs old. Those lessons are my only real one on one memories I have of her. I will get these kits even if I don't win. Love love this idea!
ReplyDeleteAvid follower of yours on Google, Facebook, pinterest, Instagram, bloggin, and email lol (and I still manage to miss your posts at times)
I love doing small bits and pieces of embroidery. However I have never tried making embroidery jewelry before. It would be great to try this technique.
ReplyDeleteOMG! These are wonderful! I’ve been embroidering miniatures and wondering how to make them into jewelry. Lovely product!

ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful! I do cross stitch and embroidery and have played with the idea of finishing my smalls into jewelry but haven't been sure where to start.
ReplyDeleteOh I love these! I have thought they were the most adorable since they came out! Ive watched Becky Nunn show them when they were brand new and I thought they were perfect....and different compared to her normal blanks/bezels for resin, etc. I havent done any embroidery since I was about 11 or 12 but I would love to make one of these for myself! These have been on my wish list for quite some time now! Im curious if its harder because its just so tiny.
ReplyDeleteI think that Becky Nunn has created a winner of a company. Their products are creative and lend themselves to numerous different creative uses. Please enter me in the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI would really like to win this giveaway! I’ve many cross-stitch and beading patterns that I want to make and insert into the rounds and forms. Ellen Lee, 1-847-643-6346, angelicabeads@yahoo.com

ReplyDeleteI try not to rob other people of their luck when I'm not into a particular giveaway for one reason or another but I'd love to try my luck with these kits. We learned some embroidery in primary school but I didn't fall for it back then. All of a sudden, I'm thinking stitching now :) I'm a blog follower.
ReplyDeleteI saw these kits and am fascinated by the idea of incorporating embroidery (or bead embroidery) into the pendants. Nunn Designs always makes great items!
ReplyDeleteI would love to try making these I have done embroidery but not with jewelry thanks for the chance to win it to try it!

ReplyDeleteI love this idea (why didn't I think of it). I really love the landscape ones. I bet you could even use it as a canvas and paint on it. These remind me of things my grandmother had and they would be great to create a family heirloom that you can pass down to loved ones.
