Nicola is lucky to live in the beautiful Isle of Wight which lies in the English Channel. It has been a popular holiday destination since Victorian times - a verdant landscape and lovely coastal scenery. So it is no wonder this copper wire art is inspired by nature.
Her shop, Earth Balance Craft, shows off her deft ability with wire. She creates many suncatchers and wall art.
Nicola explained, "I enjoy exploring light play using semi-precious gemstones, crystals and glass. I use stones that absorb and reflect day light with palettes that would be at home in the great outdoors. All of my copper metal designs use a deep oxidised finish, with a polish to reveal the warm coppery highlights once again. This gives an added dimension to my 2D designs, playing with metallic depth and textures."
Her designs are all simple yet, aesthetically pleasing - confident sketches in wire which capture one's attention.
Nicola is an experienced instructor both offline and online. She offers a growing number of tutorials to teach those who wish to learn and improve their wire skills.
