Bead boards are the greatest thing since sliced bread... for beadweavers. Really handy to have. They are comfortable to work on as the surfaces are soft. The padded rim acts not only as a wrist or hand rest but more importantly, stops the beads from rolling off.
The beads often land hole up so picking them up with the needle is easy. I particularly like using it as a pin cushion for my needles.
I considered making my own. But nah. It was easier to get them ready made. One member of my Grand River Bead Society makes them so I bought mine from her. I use mine for other techniques like chain mail too!
Don't have one? Well you are in luck. The husband and wife team, Steve and Marilu of MSWshop, is offering one for a lucky winner.
Their boards come in different sizes - the 11" x 13" and 10" x 14" are their most popular. If you browse their store, you can see they also offer round ones. It is really down to personal preference which shape to chose.
You can also ask to customize them with your favorite fabric color and design. They even said, "If you'd like to pick out your own fabric, just send us a convo."

ReplyDeleteI adore these bead boards! Because they have the high walls beads and cmponents don’t roll off onto the floor. The fabric on the base is smooth and allows me to pick up beads without catching my needle on it. I hope I win this board! I would love it with blue fabric should I be lucky enough to win! Thanks so much! Ellen
