tree of life wire suncatcher tutorial

The skills you learn to make small pieces of jewelry can often be scaled up to make home decor designs. This awesome tree of life wire suncatcher tutorial by Yvonne Williams is a great example.

She used an irregular piece of amber and wired it to the frame, both front and back.  Amber is light - after all it is fossilized tree sap.  Other materials to consider include translucent polymer clay pieces.  I have some leftover pieces of glass from a stained glass artist. So I could use these too if I grind the sharp edges smooth.

Notice the frame has depth so that should accommodate pieces which are thick.  But you could reduce the number of wires down to maybe 2-3 if you prefer.

She finishes it beautifully by using the dark wrapping wire around the frame wire ends!
