Californian, Mary Kenyon of rartistmary, is an artist who makes unique jewelry and trinket dishes by decorating large sea shells.  Her love of art and anything vintage shows in her wonderful work.

She chooses vintage art images to decoupage the shells. She then handpaints Art Noveau inspired decorative elements and adds jewelry findings, beads and Swarovski crystals to complete these beautifully crafted pieces.

She clearly loves the work of the Czech artist, Alfonse Mucha (1860-1939) as there are a number of jewelry dishes which celebrate his Art Nouveau work. Mary is also fond of British artist, John William Waterhouse's (1849-1917)work with his distinctive Pre-Raphealite Brotherhood style of painting.  His Lady of Shalott ( inspired by Alfred Tennyson's poem of the same name) is seen in this jewelry dish :

Mary said, "My love of everything vintage and artsy has led me to many creative outlets. I would have to say I got this gift of art from my father, who was an accomplished oil painter and leather carver, he was always showing me how to do some artistic project he was working on. After he passed, he left me with all his oil paints, acrylic paints, canvases, leather and hundreds of leather tools."

She has had her Etsy store for nearly a decade. But once she retired in 2018 after 27 years working in a pharmacy, she decided to really concentrate on her Etsy store.  Mary admitted she is now working harder than she ever has in order to keep up! This was especially so after her unique work appeared on Bored Panda and My Modern Met.

Mary added, " I have the Rumi proverb posted in my studio that says" Let what you do be what you love" and I have to say that I have truly found what I love!" It shows!

Mary also has a collection of wire wrapped crystal sun catchers!
