One of my top favorite places to hunt for innovative designs and supplies is Etsy, the world's largest marketplace for over 2 million creatives from around the world.

Earlier this year, Etsy launched their first ever global design award competition.  The unenviable task of choosing the 160 global finalists from thousands of entries went to an international panel of artists, designers and style and trend experts who looked for "quality, creativity, utility and “wow” factor" from sellers or #TheEtsies. This was regardless of whether the seller was new or popular.

The submissions were in the 5 following categories :
  • Inventive Decor
  • Signature Style
  • Festive Celebrations
  • Earth-Friendly
  • Creative Collaborations (personalized handcrafted items)
The Grand Prize winner will receive  prize of US$15,000. Each of the category winners will receive US$1000. All prize winners will receive additional marketing and business prizes. The winners will be announced in September.

The finalists themselves have all earned a valuable marketing badge of honor for being among the 160 finalists.  Shown below are 8 of my favorites from the list, in no particular order.  It was no easy task making my own selection.  After I had chosen them, I went back and looked at where the creatives were from. Truly global!
