Like the look of distressed and verdigris jewelry? But not the actual method of altering the metal findings yourself? Who can blame you? It can get messy.
You are in luck. Check out Phaedra Torres's PalomaAntigua shop. This California based artisan does all the hand altering of metal findings herself so you don't have to.
She has a variety of bronze findings which have been beautifully transformed color wise. Not just to the popular verdigris hues but also others. Sometimes there are more than one color on her pieces.
Phaedra says, "I use a variety of materials and techniques, as well as a sealer, to achieve the look. These are distressed on both sides."
As she does the work herself, you do have to allow her several days to ready orders before they can be shipped.

Wow - she does all the distressing herself! That's impressive AND a lot of work!
ReplyDeleteI love her colours! It's wonderful to stumble on findings that suit your purpose so well - especially with the different colours. How lovely! Good find Pearl!
The colors were what impressed me about Phaedra's work.
DeleteThis is great for those who don't want to invest in patinas and pastes just for a few metal pieces. But playing with patinas is quite fun on the other hand.
ReplyDeleteAnd sometimes with surprising results!
