Making your own head pins not only saves you money, but you will also be able to have unique handmade ones.
I really like this simple heart head pin tutorial by Canadian designer Cheryl St Pierre of majesticwireartworks. She makes really tight and even wire scrolls.
This instructor teaches wire newbies well as she takes her time to show how to achieve those neat turns. You can use a marker pen to temporarily mark where you need to bend the wire for the bottom of the heart.
Here is a wonderful example of how to use her heart pin and create a simple yet elegant pendant :

Hi, Pearl, hope you're doing well! I've made many of Cheryl's designs (and my customers reeeeeally like them). I found that once I'd practised enough and achieved what I call "finger memory", her designs seem to make themselves.
ReplyDeletePractice is certainly the key to make consistent and good wire designs. Glad you like Cheryl's work as much as I do!
DeleteThese are really pretty headpins. They add that oomph that just makes the design!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Pearl.
I watch Cheryl's YouTube channel and always find something new I could use in my work! She's one of those who share selfishly!
ReplyDeleteOf course, I meant "unselfishly" :)
DeleteWe know what you mean! She is such a valuable member of our jewelry making community!
DeleteThis is a sweet idea to enhance any jewelry project.
