Super crafter, Mark Montano, has just the bead stash buster for us. His easy wire ornament tutorial for a Christmas star and tree uses thick wire and a whole bunch of beads.
You do not have to be a wire artist to make the frame nor does it have to be perfectly formed.
I like how he uses scrap wood and nails to help with the wire work. Don't have scrap wood? The cheap dollar store bamboo cutting boards will work just as well.
Aluminum wire is inexpensive. You can also use copper core craft wire like Parawire. I particularly like their silver wire for jewelry making. I suggest using 16 or 18 G wire for the frame and make the foundation shapes smaller than Mark did if you prefer daintier ornaments. Use 26 G for the wrapping.
The teardrop crystal for the Christmas tree trunk is a nice touch!
