I have featured a number of beaded earrings on metal frames before - see links below. The designers usually work with metal frames. 

But Bogdana Prots of BeadSplendour (a ribbon embroidery jewelry artisan I featured before) does something different with her geometric hoop earrings tutorial. 

She beads on both sides of a simple pair of hoop earrings using 10/0 beads.
