Why wire trees? They make for really unique gifts. For example as wedding gifts, a housewarming and you get to gemstones or beads for a spot of colour.

The two featured tutorials here were inspired by weeping willows. Remember to use gloves because working with large bundles of wire is rather hard on the hands!

This first tutorial by @SculptyWorks which uses gemstone chips. You can also use glass chip beads. I like how this instructor embeds the "roots" into a small container using a mix of small gravel and epoxy resin.

This tutorial by @SyahrulBintangSR features beads. The construction is different in that the designer creates the main tree structure and then hangs bead and wire links which form long dangles from the created wire loops. The result is a more dynamic design because the dangles move. Note that this wire artist did not wrap the wire "roots" around a stone or embed it inside a pot. The wires used are quite thick and form a strong support when bundled together and spread out to form a stable base.

One way to speed up the process is to use gemstone or bead chains. This saves the effort of having to make individual bead links!

This lovely gemstone chip beaded chain below is from AshaGemsnBeads. They also have an all peridot version if you want to stick with the green colour.

There are also different kinds of beaded chains for all kinds of jewelry making projects. Not just for wire trees, either. This example of inexpensive beaded chain is from BlingJewelry 2100.

Lemon Tree Song Cover

A lovely Lemon Tree song cover inspired this post. The original light hearted pop song was composed by Peter Freudenthaler and Volker Hinkel and released by Fool's Garden back in 1995. See official video here.

The cover song was performed by two street buskers in Bordeaux, France back in 2023. Felix Nunes on the cello and Jingxuan on the guzheng, a traditional Chinese instrument whose origins date back over 1000 years ago. A delightful blend of East and West, new songs with musical instruments which have been around for a long time.

Enjoy!
