NASA's SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) is actually a scientific research institute which looks for life beyond Earth. So far, scientists have not yet discovered any evidence although they do keep looking using different techniques. If they do, rest assured, it will not be buried news as the conspiracy theorists believe.

Meanwhile, for the rest of us, we just enjoy alien movies, books and even jewelry! I have selected some fun designs covering a range of jewelry making techniques and materials. Some of these are DIY tutorials to make your own UFO and alien designs.

Beadwork is not just about making jewelry. You can make all kinds of decor items too! I've written about beaded boxes before (see links below). But Florida based Shannon of TheSparklyEngineer is a whiz because she uses bead embroidery instead which is accomplished on a foundation.

She is adept at making 3D bead embroidered structures such as jewelry boxes, pyramids, obelisks and spheres. These are my favorites from her tutorial collection.

Pretty Beaded Jewelry Tutorials by PeyoteBeadArt

When I first contacted Florida based Sylvie Camps of PeyoteBeadArt, she thought her work was not a good fit for my blog. Her reasoning? She can no longer update her collection with fresh patterns because she can no longer bead due to her poor eyesight and uncooperative hands.

But that really does not matter. Her collection is indeed worthy as the designs shows of her beading skills and creative talents. She also understands what beaders need to know - whether particular designs are suitable for their skill levels. Sylvie does not say but I suspect she has taught in the past.

Red Lips Jewelry and Tutorials | Red Lipstick in History

Red lipstick has long been the symbol of feminine power and sensuality. Did you know the earliest lipstick date back thousands of years to early civilisations? Lipstick grew popular in Europe by the 16th century and has never lost its favour with the fair sex to this day.

That red lips trend also appears in jewelry. Shown above is the bead embroidered red lips stud drop earrings by BEZALEnewyork.

10 Stunning Ear Jackets to Wear by SilverRainSilver!

Don't like earring dangles much? Well, ear jackets might just appeal! This variation of earrings puts the butterfly backs into stylish use.
Some of the best ear jacket designs I have ever come across are from the Scottish design studio, SilverRainSilver. I have featured their dainty jewelry before.
They work mostly in sterling silver. They also keep the cost down by using cubic zirconia instead of real gemstones.

Contemporary Beadwoven and Leather Jewelry and Tutorials by RobertaParlapiano

When I spotted Italian designer Roberta of RobertaParlapiano's work on Bluesky (join me there ) , I was immediately wowed! She combines beadwork with leather tassels and sometimes chain with an incredible contemporary flair.

Her ability to create truly novel designs can be seen with this selection of my favourites from her collection. One good example is her evil eye necklaces below.

UK designer, Mila of MilastudioShop puts the funky and fun in her polymer clay earrings designs!

Contemporary in style with plenty of colour and play on patterns, she also has a couple of endearing adorable animal designs. I would love to see more from this designer!

Orchids are such exotic flowers to us but really, they are one of the most abundant and diverse blooming plants in the world. They come in varied shapes and colors and are often fragrant. Many beadwork designers are certainly inspired by these flowers!
