5 Pretty Beaded Flower Jewelry Tutorials by Tezukuri Notes!

I love flowers - both the real ones as well as beaded versions. One excellent Japanese instructor is @TezukuriNotes. She delivers on the Japanese esthetic - simple yet very pretty designs.

She uses fine 0.17 mm (~ 6lb) monofilament fishing line which is stiffer than the usual beading threads such as Fireline that we use. You may well have to double up on the thread paths or go up to 8 lb. The advantage of monofilament fishing line is its transparency.

Anatomy is the study of the internal and external structures of our bodies. It is a very old science as people have been interested in how our bodies work since prehistoric times.

ambroidering is the shop British artisan who specializes in anatomical art. The work is so well detailed with both bead (and sequin) embroidery and stitching and does indeed pay homage to human anatomy. The heart, teeth, nervous cell, kidneys, musculature, eyes, brains, digestive system and parts of the skeleton are all featured.

10 Awesome Beaded Earrings DIY Kits by CrazyAcademy

I featured Ukrainian beadwork designer, Polina of CrazyAcademy before. She is a prolific bead artist constantly adding tutorials and kits. She may call herself a "crazy" beader but in truth she is a highly motivated and hardworking creative who is passionate about her craft.
The last time I wrote about her amazing necklace patterns and kits with a few earrings tossed in. This time round, I have selected a small sample from her huge 400+ collection of earrings DIY kits. Many but not all are fringe patterns.
Some of you prefer to use kits which are combinations of supplies and patterns because you will not have to source specific bead colors and be stuck with excesses! Please also check her pattern/tutorial only collection if you prefer to source from your own bead stashes!

5 Quick Leaf Beadwork Jewelry Tutorials

I've always loved jewelry designs which are botanically inspired (see links below). This time around, I want to showcase some quick leaf design tutorials or patterns which won't take a month of Sundays to complete. Some of us just want our jewelry sooner rather than later.

5 Beaded Lariat Necklace Designs to Inspire!

The Victorians and Edwardians wore lariat necklaces but the style including other long necklaces became wildly popular during the Flapper era in the 1920's. The long look suited the straight lined short dresses of the day. Lariats are still popular today. Don't forget to check out past beaded lariat tutorial links at the end.

Gorgeous Metal and Wire Work Jewelry and Tutorials by BernaDerin | Amazing Properties and Uses of Copper

Turkish metalsmith and wire worker, Berna, says she is self taught. However, her gorgeous designs and tutorials for BernaDerin is an amazing testament to the amount of hard work and passion she has poured into her craft.

She uses mostly copper, a versatile metal which has interesting properties and uses besides for jewelry making (see below for more information). She is superb at making wire work cuffs especially with the braiding technique, sometimes with gemstones included. She considers many of her designs as male jewelry but really, I can see many women loving them too. So unisex is a better description.

3D Geometric Beadwork Tutorials and Kits by BeadMechanics

British designer, Patricia Verrier, says she has always beaded throughout her working life as she shifted from being an astrophysicist to mathematician and to software engineer.

Her mathematically inclined brain clearly loves geometry as you can see from her 3D tutorials on her Etsy, BeadMechanics. They are awesome, ranging from the simpler 5 and 3 colored tetrahedrons as shown at the top and bottom, to more challenging designs for intermediate to advanced beaders. Some of the more complex ones will require a curved needle.

Supporting Ukrainian Artisans

Brick stitch and fringe earrings are not only fun to make and wear but there are oodles of creative opportunities. Marina, a Ukrainian beadwork designer is very fond of them and many her patterns in her shop BeadedEarringsKit are unique.

Some of my favorites include the peacock and her ethnic Ukrainian inspired designs featuring a one eyed lady and a bird in deep salmon pink, white and black.

5 Christmas Carol Inspired Jewelry | Cantique de Noel (O Holy Night)

A carol is actually a festive song. The history of carols is a long one. The word itself comes from Old French carole, a circle dance accompanied by singers. The old Medieval carols were originally sung communally at festivals to celebrate harvest time and Christmas. It was only much later on that the carols were sung in churches and be specifically associated with Christmas.

Some of the oldest carols date back to the Middle ages such as "O Come All Ye Faithful" (Adeste Fidelis) sung here in Latin by Andrea Bocelli, "Good King Wenceslas", "The Holly and the Ivy" and "Christ was born on Christmas Day". The unique sound of these Medieval carols due to their chord patterns have ensured their popularity to this day.
