8 Gorgeous Beaded Hoops and Loops Earrings Tutorials

Hoop earrings have been popular for thousands of years. The picture below of a young girl wearing hoop earrings is from a fresco painted in Ancient Greece dated about 1650-1625 BCE.

Penannular brooches are incomplete ring brooches which has been in used for thousands of years. These were especially popular during the medieval age and were worn as fasteners by both men and women - usually those with the means to afford them. They are still popular today.

I've raved about BarbSmithDesigns before including her fabulous supply store, BarbSmithDesignsDIY, for tutorials and kits. This Arizona artisan creates stunning bead and leather bracelets.

This time, I am paying homage to her narrower designs. They are just as lovely as her wider ones. I love how she uses a lot of turquoise and silver combinations which is not surprising, considering where she lives.

Canadian leather work artisans, Ashley and Josh, craft their beautiful work from their studio in a quiet Maritime town on the East Coast. What started as a hobby, Hammerthreads has now become a full fledged small business.

Hammerthreads makes many stunning leather products but my favourites from their extensive collection are the leather bag charms and keychains. Ashley confesses she is a "manic leather crafter with a serious attention to detail". She is a plant lover, especially leaves, so that is reflected in their designs.

Adorable Mini Beaded Designs for Jewelry, Bookmarks and Ornaments

I raved about Ukrainian designer, Marina of MariVirraPatterns some years ago. She is certainly a prolific designer with many beautiful beaded jewelry designs. This time round, I would like to feature her adorable mini beaded designs. The flat designs can be used not just as earrings, pendants and brooches but consider using the patterns for bookmarks and ornaments.

My favorite among this collection are her miniature sweater designs. Best kind of Christmas sweaters which aren't ugly at all! She has them for other celebrations too.

Adorable Peyote Beaded Amigurumi Pattern Tutorials by Sheep Shop Toy

Amigurumi, the Japanese art of crocheting or knitting tiny stuffed creatures or objects is all the rage! This is a huge and popular trend. Some of the crochet amigurumi designers use bead crochet methods. But SheepShopToy's designs are worth a look if you do not crochet or knit but love the amigurumi aspect.

The designer, Oleksandra Mykhailenko, uses peyote stitch to put together her 3D miniatures. She has many adorable creatures such as the pig, cow and lamb above. What's more, she offers many little accessories to go with them including cute baskets, umbrellas, dresses, hats, potted flowers and so on!

Once is never enough for excellent beadwork designers like thebeadloomgallery. While I have featured her work before (linked below), there are still many wonderful designs in her shop. This time, I was charmed by her many tubular peyote beaded patterns. So pretty! Definitely a must see if you are not fond of bead crochet tubes.

This designer's versatility is admirable because she also offers peyote cuff patterns for delicas as well as the quick to do 2-thread versions. She calls the latter lazy peyote!

Contemporary Beadwoven and Leather Jewelry and Tutorials by RobertaParlapiano

When I spotted Italian designer Roberta of RobertaParlapiano's work on Bluesky (join me there ) , I was immediately wowed! She combines beadwork with leather tassels and sometimes chain with an incredible contemporary flair.

Her ability to create truly novel designs can be seen with this selection of my favourites from her collection. One good example is her evil eye necklaces below.

Talented designers like Romanian bead artist, Roxana of AriaMagicalJewelry come up with so many beautiful beaded jewelry tutorials that it is very hard to select just a few to showcase!

She has a number of lovely snowflakes and mandalas which can double as pendants or Christmas ornaments. Also notable are her pretty and dainty bracelets as well as her brooches. Truly magical indeed.

The moon, being the nearest celestial object, has fascinated mankind for eons. The moon has been associated with strange behaviour, violent fits and werewolves. The word "lunacy" comes from the name of the Roman goddess, Luna who was supposedly the embodiment of the moon and a complement of the sun god, Sol.

There are many myths and legends about our only natural satellite. Many ancients (and some modern people) believed that the moon was responsible for fertility because the lunar and menstrual cycles were similar in length. There have been no scientific studies which show any such correlation.

The Age of Sail (15th-19th centuries) has long past but we still enjoy seeing beautiful sailboats moving on the water sailed by modern day yachtsmen and women. Such elegance and poise as they cleave through the waves!

However, in a move to get away from fossil fuels and to help curb the rate of climate change, not to mention a reduction in operating costs, sailing cargo ships are making a comeback! We now have advanced engineering skills and many technological advances to make this possible and efficient. The first wind assisted cargo ship, the Canopée, launched in 2022.

Illinois based Raluca of RalusBeadArt is a beadwork jewelry designer who clearly pours her passion for the craft in her designs. Her beadwork is indeed artful.

The majority of her work is in peyote bracelet designs, both odd and even count. She does offer some beaded tealight, brick stitch earrings and loom patterns. But her forte in bracelet designs is noteworthy.

AHEDproject (Affordable High End Design Project) is an artisan collective based in California. I featured one of their artisans before who made whimsical pixelated animal jewelry.

Another of their collection centres on polyester chiffon. Polyester, a kind of plastic, is widely used in textiles and other consumer products like PET bottles. Synthetic polyester is usually made from petroleum. Polyester chiffon, a sheer fabric, is a much cheaper and more durable alternative than natural silk chiffon.

I have come across some amazing coin jewelry before. However, Coin Jewelry is way up there for great workmanship and the creation of gorgeous hand cut coins from around the world. It is one of, if not, the most extensive coin pendant necklace collections I have ever seen.
Coin Jewelry was started by Michael Vincent way back in 1975 in Key Largo, Florida. He said :

I started out working at a picnic table in a campground, and what I thought would be a nice hobby has turned into my life’s work.

Leather Feather Earrings and DIY Patterns by ilzeBoutique

Ilze Dāvida is a Latvian designer who loves crochet and leather earrings. It is her feather leather earrings and DIY patterns in ilzeBoutique which caught my eye. They are multi-layered statement earrings. Some are plays on colors as you can see from her DIY patterns for the American flag and Canadian maple leaf designs.

However, the most stunning designs are her swan and flamingo leather feather earrings. These are cleverly cut and layered to capture the heads and beaks of the birds!
