Anatomy is the study of the internal and external structures of our bodies. It is a very old science as people have been interested in how our bodies work since prehistoric times.

ambroidering is the shop British artisan who specializes in anatomical art. The work is so well detailed with both bead (and sequin) embroidery and stitching and does indeed pay homage to human anatomy. The heart, teeth, nervous cell, kidneys, musculature, eyes, brains, digestive system and parts of the skeleton are all featured.

There are both finished designs as well as some tutorials. I have highlighted just the bead embroidery but there is more. I loved the laser cut designs too. These are pins, ornaments and keychains. The tooth design below is an awesome mixed media one.  Great gift for biologists, medical, nursing students etc.

Synchronized Japanese Gymnasts in Action

Our bodies are amazing works of art in themselves. How our bodies function involves very complex mechanisms. We often take our bodies for granted unless and until they don't work.  Consider what it takes to stay in shape, let alone function at a very high level such as these Japanese gymnasts in action!

I am no expert in any sports but I wonder if these videos show  aerobics gymnastics rather than rhythmic gymnastics as labeled? Aerobics gymnastics is a highly competitive sport which evolved from traditional gymnastics. The high intensity, skillful movements as well as complex patterns, are performed to music. The muscle memory from repetition, muscular strength, the coordination for split second timing, flexibility, balance, agility and so on all come into play. Not to mention, beautiful musicality too.

This first video shows a six man team which won first place in the 2021 Japan High School Nationals. Note the tumbling at the end where they are tumbling over each other and the tremendous show of strength where one student lifts and spins another overhead!

Here is another video showing a University level team at a national competition in 2022. The tumbling synchronization of all six men is amazing to see.

This video shows another victory for Aomori University at the inter-college level back in 2018.   I don't understand why men's tumbling in the Olympics has no music. This shows that men too can show power and grace set to music.
