First, we had a huge shift to all things digital. Indeed, many writers like me compose entirely on the computer. But there is growing revival of using real writing implements on real paper. My old fountain pens from decades ago are long gone but I've bought a couple of fountain pens in recent years to enjoy the writing process once again.
It's our human nature to want do something more tangible than tap keys, to create and form words and to feel things in our hands. It's much the same with people who prefer to read actual books which you can hold and even smell!
Well, Minnesotan Anna Schneider of ClassicallyRomantic certainly delivers on the nostalgia of those bygone days before computers, before even ballpoint pens. Her collection of vintage fountain pen nib jewelry shows how you can make something cool out of old nibs. All beautifully photographed.
Wonderful gift ideas for writers, librarians, correspondents, bibliophiles, teachers and artists who love forming scripts.
William Shakespeare was a prolific English writer who has been credited with some 40+ plays and over 150 sonnets. His understanding of human nature, his ability to entertain is such that his works remain popular to this day. He made up new words and phrases which we still use today - possibly 1,700 brand new inventions. Some examples include, bedroom, eyeball, green-eyed monster, birthplace, lonely and many more.
I never did English Literature in school and never read Shakespeare but I absolutely admire the many words and phrases he invented to make his plays come alive. "In one fell swoop" is such a clever, descriptive word play that one could see in one's mind - one of my favourites.
Enjoy this beautifully made video which highlights his genius with the English language :
