Many beads are round. Indeed, they are most likely the most common shape. Smooth and easy wearing. However, they need to be well secured in wire work designs. Take British wire artist, Abby Hook of Abbyjewellery's work for splendid examples of well stabilized designs.

Many of her designs which use round beads rest on a wire foundation such as this lovely skeleton leaf pendant tutorial shown below :

But I also love her other designs which uses beads which are first strung on wire and then further wire lengths are creatively used to keep them in place.  Her Kiss Kross design for bracelet, earrings and ring are excellent examples as is the design at the top.  The 5 bead pendant design at the end also another example. Abby also has a herringbone wrapped tutorial. 

These designs are suitable for beginners. But do check out her other designs if you are looking for more challenging ones!
