Quite a while before I moved and joined the Grand River Bead Society here in Ontario, I had already across fellow member, Roxann Blazetch-Ozols's drop dead gorgeous beaded peacock creations. They garnered quite a bit of attention.
The designs were actually a collaboration between lampwork artisan Mary Ann Helmond who made the peacock beads and Roxann who, as she said herself, "engineered" the beadwork to form magnificent Art Noveau peacock necklaces and other pieces after extensive input by the two artisans and based on the original sketches by Mary Ann. There were 3 different designs in all.
The first set shown above, took advantage of lampwork beads which formed the neck and head of the bird and the center of individual feathers. The second one also used the distinctive color combinations of real peacock feathers but this time, beadwork formed the head and neck. Roxann really nailed the feathers of the peacock beautifully in this one!
Roxann also came up with an albino peacock necklace with a beautiful white lampwork detail in the front of the fringe style necklace. What a gorgeous bridal set it is!
Roxann's beadwork passion is something she now fully indulges in after a career in science. She exhibits and teaches at various Canadian bead shows and stores using her own beading kits. [ Update : Her link beadaddict.ca shows her new website Ducette.ca which is on fiber crafts. ]
Roxann is only selling in Canada at the moment. But she might change her mind if there is sufficient interest beyond our borders. So drop her a line!
One of her kits is the Peyote Rainbow Spring Garden Bracelet which uses even count peyote and Czech flower beads. Roxann can provide other color combinations.
