How inspiring it is to see a modern designer use ancient techniques and re-imagine new ways of making jewelry! Sofia Paschou is a Greek designer who takes all kinds of threads - linen, silk, cotton - and weaves them into lovely pieces. She does this on a tiny improvised loom in her Athens workshop.
Sofia explained, "I discovered my passion for traditional weaving techniques, having been raised in a family who loves Greek folk art and in my work I incorporate these techniques in contemporary designs."
Her designs are bold and colorful with minimal use of beads. You can see more of her work on her Facebook.

I find Sofia's work incredibly inspiring. Her use of colours and her designs gives me a sense of freedom in many respects.
ReplyDeleteFirst - her style. Looking at each piece makes me think of a beautiful cloudless summer day. I've no idea why....
Second - her use of fibres and her little loom make me look around and consider other possibilities in my own work.
