Sonyrees Creations is one of my favorite designer instructors. Her designs are simple yet innovative. This tutorial for either earrings or pendant seems to me to be quilling inspired! You can use any color combinations.
One of the viewers noticed that her own efforts with 10 lb Fireline was not as rigid as the designer's pieces. This is quite amazing to me as 10 lb is thicker than what most of us use (6, 8 lb).
The designer replied and explained she uses fishing thread (monofilament) 0.16mm. You can buy it online or get it from your local fishing store.
Update : I wonder if the viewer could only manage one pass with 10 lb Fireline. I would try it with say 4-6 lb and see if it is stiff enough.

10 lb! I can barely stand to use anything thicker than 4 lb.
ReplyDeleteI found that astonishing too. I wonder if she had used 6 lb or like you 4 lb, she could have gone over the design a few times which will stiffen up the piece. I don't think she could have made more than one pass with 10lb! I never use it!!
DeleteI'm just amazed at how much it looks like quilling!
ReplyDelete10lbs would catch a good sized fish! LOL!
