Combining techniques is a sure fire way of coming up with unique designs.  One great way is to marry polymer clay with wire.  You can easily create colorful pieces with the polymer clay and use the wire for structural and decorative elements.

One of my favorite metal work designers is Kharisma Ryantori Sommers of Popnicute.   She also has her own website.  Check out her unique combination polymer clay tree of life pendant tutorial which features tiny little polymer clay birds! Check out more of Kharisma's work in this past feature.

Zoe Lynham of PolymerClay Obsession has a new passion - wire! This is her combination polymer clay with flower tutorial!  I love her pearls and crystal details!

Flat wire is another alternative as the extra width can be used to frame thicker pieces of polymer clay. Cristina Bianchini of PuntoCri uses flat wire for her framed heart pendant tutorial.  This is a versatile tutorial as you can adapt the technique for different polymer clay effects and perhaps other shapes. Nice touch with the use of a grommet for hanging.
