I have always admired Japanese beader, Sapphirus' design tutorials. They are sometimes contemporary in their simplicity but always elegant. It is that Japanese aesthetic!

This one for a beaded pearl earrings caught my eye for a number of reasons.  The design itself is lovely. Unlike many mandala designs, she made the focals extend lower down with extra pearls and bugle beads.

Often beaders start the work by beading around the central bead. But what she does is to create the beaded bezel first.  My favorite part is how she used seed beads on their sides for the outer edge of the mandala.

Note that she deliberately uses contrast colored beads and thread for the tutorial, making it easier for us to follow. But the finished design looks marvelous when metallic beads are used.

There are English subtitles so you are good to go!
