There are many ways to decorate and hang gemstone donuts. However, this tutorial by Aleshia of Beadifulnights is exceptional as it appeals to beading enthusiasts and those who love color and pattern.

You have to option to just do part of the donut or go all the way around. The latter is useful if the donut you have on hand isn't that great.  (We all succumb to those bargains, buy them and then regret the purchase afterwards).

  1. Interesting potential use for bugle beads as well (I have far too many of those...).

Another thing I like for donuts is what Kinga Nichols does with them. I don't know of any free resources but her tutorials are available as part of a paid video subscription with Interweave (which is a better deal than purchasing the downloads individually).

  3. ooh, ooh, had an inspiration! when Aleshia is showing her work with the beading on the "north" arc of the donut i was reminded of a tree of life look.... just add a trunk across the hole, and roots on the other side and.... obviously, this needs some experimenting... LOL! so many ideas and so little time to bead. :)

    1. Well spotted Cally! That design would make for a great tree of life pendant with some modifications!
