Gloria Uhler of Domestic-DivaOnline has always used aluminum sheets for her crafting projects. She and I, as well as a whole host of crafters have found aluminum easy to cut.  Aluminum is silver tone and thus a cost effective alternative to silver.

One of the least expensive sources of aluminum are soda or beer cans.  See my tutorial on how to make upcycled aluminum can jewelry

Whether or not you use bought aluminum sheets or recycled ones, do check out Gloria's recent tutorial on how to make metal bails for polymer clay jewelry using this material. She also provides a downloadable PDF for the templates.

I love the contemporary style of her bails. The plain style is a great contrast to the colorful clay.

Important : Do not attempt to work harden or emboss thin aluminum which have been folded or curved. This action will break the aluminum.
