When life gives you lemons, then you go get something funny from Jenny of ShlemonArt and have a laugh! This Illinois based artist is a whizz with laser cutting. It was her iridescent acrylic earrings and keychains which caught my eye and many made me chuckle as I perused her collection.
Some are really unique like the sphynx cat earrings below. Or really lovely like the butterfly and floral ones.
Others have witty and pithy quips. This one - my favorite - below also has a keychain version. She has so many others.
One of her designs shown below is titled "That One Time People Bullied Me On Instagram". Given that the harassment and lack of civil discord in social media these days is carried out by wounded people who lash out at others, the retort captured in the earrings, is most apt.
"God Gives His Toughest Battles to His Strongest Soldiers" is a popular inspirational theme. But Jenny's add-on "I have hemorrhoids" made me giggle because it reminded me of a true historical trivia involving a famous soldier, his hemorrhoids and his final battle.
On the morning of the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, Napoleon Bonaparte's hemorrhoids were playing up so badly, he was unable to mount his horse to survey the battlefield as he usually did. The battle then commenced late in the morning which allowed vital reinforcements to arrive in time for the Duke of Wellington and his allied army to win the battle. From the fascinating trivia book "Napoleon's Hemorrhoids and Other Small Events that Changed History."
