Ever since I saw Motley Mutton's adorable tiny swinging felted animal pendants, I realized that the medium could be used successfully for innovative jewelry making.  And indeed many artists do make felted beads and so on. See additional tutorials below. This video tutorial by NeedleFelting1013 is actually for a kokeshi doll jewelry box.  


Kokeshi dolls are traditional handmade Japanese wooden dolls. What is great about having a felted jewelry box is the protection the material provides to your pieces!  It should also pack up quite easily in a suitcase.

If you look carefully, the lower section even has a recessed edge to take the lid. Neat!
