David Weizman is the talented metal smith behind Ka Gold Jewelry. He calls himself a cosmic jewelry artist because he creates many designs inspired by sacred symbols from around the world.

Watch him use a real heart shaped fig leaf as the jumping off point for his Dharma pendant. As you can see the fig leaf from a Bodhi tree is quite large. This enables him to create his unique design using tracing paper.

Shrinking the design then lets him transfer the design to sheet metal.

The design is exquisite and truly unique as I found out when I received his made to order Dharma pendant for review. It took David only a few days before it was ready for shipping. This is the box it came in.

Inside was a orange jewelry polish cloth (nice touch!) and a paper scroll...

...which explained that the Bodhi or Buddhi tree is sacred to Buddhists because "Siddhartha Gautama, the spiritual teacher who became known as the Buddha, is said to have attained enlightenment or Bodhi" under such a tree.

David further explained the symbols he used for his pendant design - the Dharma wheel is connected to the Noble Eightfold Path (notice the 8 petal-like spaces?), the key Buddhist practices of right view, right intention or resolve, right speech, right conduct, right livelihood, right practice, right mindfulness and right concentration.  It is the path to end suffering and to achieve self awakening. Along with the Four Noble Truths, which explains the cause of all suffering (greed and ignorance), this is known as the Middle Path or Middle Way.

Many do not consider Buddhism a religion at all. It is "neither a system of faith or worship" but a philosophy or way of life; a life-long practice of self-awareness and improvement.  Indeed mindful meditation, a key part of Buddhism, is now practiced worldwide by people from all walks of life. Clinical studies have shown the mental and health benefits of mindful meditation.

David also has many other designs. Here are some of my favorites.

This is the Flower of Life pendant.  David explained, "The Flower of Life can be found in all the major religions of the world. In Egypt, whose tradition many people believe is the source of all the monotheistic religions, the "Flower of Life", can be found in the ancient Temple of Abydos. In Israel, you can find it in the ancient synagogues of the Galilee and in Mesada."

The Yin and Yang pendant is his beautiful take on the ancient Taoist symbol of unity, balance and harmony.

The winged scarab beetle pendant is a refreshingly open design. Scarab beetle amulets were very popular in Ancient Egypt.
