Remember my post about the amazing Van Cleef and Arpels Zip necklaces? We really cannot afford one of those transformative designs - they truly zip up and become bracelets.
But you can bead up a zipper necklace even if it doesn't actually zip up. The tutorial is by Claudia Cattaneo of Happyland87.
The tutorial for either a necklace or a bracelet. You set where the closure stays. The design uses 15/0 11/0 and 8/0 seed beads as well as chaton montee #53200 and superduo or twin beads.

Hmmm - I can't seem to figure out from the pic where the beads are...and it's a paid tutorial. No matter. It's a wonderful idea. I love the unusual as you know.
ReplyDeleteShe uses 15/0 seed beads, 11/0 seed beads,8/0 seed beads , chaton montee 53200 and superduo or twin beads. So all pretty small to see in the picture. It takes a talented beeader to come up with this so not surprisingly, it is a paid tutorial.
DeleteIt looks like a variation of right-angle-weave with the seed beads used to make the strips, with superduos and the chaton montees stitched in. Very clever!
DeleteIt’s beautiful! I would probably tackle that in the future. I have so much on my ‘To Do’ list for the time being. But, I am starting a To Do List B...lol
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I have many projects in mind too but finding the time to land just some of them is tough!
DeleteI've seen actual zippers embellished and made into a necklace or bracelet, left partially open so the teeth are visible, but I've not seen a zipper made of beads. Very clever! I'm afraid with my chubby neck that the zipper would be distorted, ha!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cool idea.I can't bead weave and keep my sanity intact but it is a beautiful necklace to admire and maybe wear if i get my hands on one. :)
