Want to fancy up wire wrapped cabochon pendants? Use decorative gallery wire bezels! Check out Yvonne Williams' clever tutorial which combines the gallery wire with wire wrapping! This talented designer is skilled with wire work and other crafts.
Note the careful way she forms and cuts the gallery wire to fit stone so that the ends neatly meets. She solders the wire using solder paste which also contains flux. It is a lot easier than using those little solder bits and separate flux. The soldering ensures that the frame stays together.
She sometimes also solders the back wire piece which acts as a decorative finish as well as functions as the back stop to prevent the stone from falling out the back.
The copper gallery wire is soft so she had no trouble burnishing the edges over the stone. Her lovely wire wrapping design mixing copper with silver turned out very well!

ReplyDeletethe gallery wire raises the bar on wire-wrapping beautifully.
ReplyDeleteI had to go back again and watch this great video tutorial. There's a lot to be said for watching the way other people work. One of the many things I learned here was to hold wire flush with pliers to file it. I've always struggled with this simple chore.
