Well, this recent tutorial of hers is clever. At first glance in my Youtube feed, I thought it was beaded bead. Then I realized it was macrame work. 

Did she perform some sort of macrame magic around a wooden bead?  Nope. She creates the macrame design as a rectangle with the foundation cords on the outer edges. Once the macrame is done, she cinches in the work which bunches up long those foundation cords.  Her video makes it clear.



The trickiest bit is of course tidying up all those cord ends!

She calls it a lantern. Indeed it does resemble a traditional Chinese lantern.  However, as beaders, we can use it as a bead for earrings, pendants etc. Right?
