Mixed media art is so much fun to create. Just watch Victoria of SunDIYDay work her magic with polymer clay and wire wrapped frames in this tutorial.
She is a skilled polymer clay artist whose mind overflows with many creative ideas. One great tip is to use clay cutters as wire mandrels.
There are 3 tutorials in this video. The first design is my favorite as she uses the wire frames to connect two clay pieces and frame at the same time. She also uses a wire frame to create cells in the work which she then embellishes using UV resin.
The second tutorial is really skilled work as she sculpts a polymer clay bee with wire frames for the wings. Again, she uses UV resin to create a film across the wire frames. Once cured, she paints the wings. The bee could be used as a pendant or brooch.
I like how she uses embossing powders for the enamelled look in the third earrings tutorial. UV resin protects her finished work. You could also use regular 2 part epoxy resin like Brilliant Resin from Little Windows which is safer. The 15% discount code to use is BG1516.
