Handmade ear cuffs are usually wire or metal work. But if you are not into either technique, there is a way to get that look.

This clever and super easy magnetic beaded ear cuff tutorial uses two small magnets to secure to the ear.  The idea came from Luwan Global Beads

You will have to measure or experiment to get an idea of how many small beads you need to string on to both magnets. Make sure that the beads are securely attached to the magnets. Also pull on the magnets not the strand itself when disengaging.

You can get magnets with loops as small as 4.5 mm such as these sterling silver ones from NamiCharmSupplies or these gold filled ones from MadeofMetal.

Just one word of caution if you use any magnets in jewelry making. Make sure you keep them well away from small children and pets. Swallowed magnets are very dangerous.
