Long time readers might remember when I first introduced fishing and other knots to our collective jewelry making repertoire. First it was the Grinner Knot which is used to tie a lure onto the fishing line.

Then I followed with the Cats Paw Knot and a modified version which are typically used to tie a rope to an object. They are lovely alternatives to the Lark's Head knot (shown above left). The other name for Lark's Head knot is the Cow Hitch which explains its original purpose!

I stumbled upon a simpler tutorial on how to do the Cat's Paw ( click here for the 4.35 mark) The Croatian instructor is CbyS Paracord. He has a number of paracord jewelry tutorials in his Youtube channel.

Another Super Easy Bail Knot for Gemstone Donuts

You may have noticed I like sharing super easy bail knot tutorials I come across. It's not just because they are quick to do but mostly because they are much more secure than just the ordinary lark's head or cow hitch knot. See the links below for some past posts on such knots.

Here is the latest find - a short video posted by oarumigorumi on Instagram. The knot consists of two cow hitches with a twist in between. That is it!

These free macrame tutorials are by Tanja Zivanovic of Macrame Magic Knots. Both tutorials involve making a long macrame section which is then doubled to hold the donut. She is meticulous in removing all the excess cord ends before she begins the necklace portion.

You have to option to just do part of the donut or go all the way around. The latter is useful if the donut you have on hand isn't that great. (We all succumb to those bargains, buy them and then regret the purchase afterwards).
