Leather jewelry never loses its popularity. Kellie of Kellie's Bead Boutique has an easy tutorial which uses a box knot as the focal.

What I really love about this tutorial is the use of wrapped leather features on either side of the box knot. She uses an ancient wrapped thread technique where one can easily hide the ends.

Kellie uses ribbon clamps for the ends. You could add some glue as extra security. Or consider using wide leather cord ends.
